Jane’s Walk Newport for all

May 3 + 4 ,2025

Jane’s Walk is a movement of free, neighbor-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. Anybody can lead a Jane’s Walk. The festival encourages people to share stories about their neighborhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbors.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2024 Festival. We’ll be posting reflections and photos of this year’s walks soon. And be sure to put the 2025 dates in your calendar!

  • Take a Walk

We’ve got different walks that will appeal to different speeds, ideas, and time commitments. All walks are free of charge. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.

  • About Jane Jacobs

An American-Canadian journalist, author, theorist, and activist who influenced urban studies, sociology, and economics whose book on the importace of cities continues to inspire.

  • Propose a Walk

All walks are designed and led by community members. There’s no requirements other than interest. We’ll need walk leaders in 2025, so be in touch if you’d like to be added to the Jane’s Walk list.
